The characters in Team Fergus are the creation of Paramedic Brendan Magill and his wife Ann, a Staff Nurse. The books are written by Brendan and wonderfully illustrated by Gerald W Law, a fellow paramedic.
Put the three of them together and what you get is almost sixty years of front-line experience in the Health Service in Northern Ireland. (And rather helpfully, a childish sense of humour undiminished by that experience!)

Older children can read the stories themselves. If they've already had some first aid training, the characters will put that into practice time and time again. For those with no such experience, now's the time to start.
For the younger children, why not read aloud to them, showing them the pictures as you do. You'll be surprised what you pick up yourself!
